It’s been three weeks since our last ‘Tales from the Road’, and what a three weeks it’s been… We’ve covered almost 2,500km since we last sat down to write in southern Thailand, crossing the length of beguiling Burma (Myanmar) and on to the breath-taking views and spine-rattling roads of north-east India.
Today we meet Renee Brinkerhoff, who is one of the only women drivers to compete and succeed in what is known as the most dangerous road race of its kind in the world. But Renee is not all about Porsche racecar and La Carrera Panamericana. She i salso there to help other women be stronger and reach out for their best.
Renée Brinkerhoff is a racecar driver in La Carrera Panamericana and founder of Valkyrie Racing. In 2013, at the age of 57, in her first car race of any kind, she became the first woman in the history of the race to win her class, in their debut year, Renée achieved something beyond her wildest dreams.
Marian Bublewicz, a cult Polish rally champion who died in a rally accident, would have been 69 this year. A rallying event is coming up, to commemorate him and his rallying spirit, which will happen on August the 24th, a day prior to Bublewicz’s birthday.
IX edition of MotoClassic Wrocław event (Rally of Historic Vehicles 1886 – 1990) will be held from 17th to 18th of August 2019 in Topacz Castle near Wrocław. This year’s special guests of the event will be 35 crews, members of the Dutch club Jaguar Diamler Club Holland.
